Three Rivers set to add electric bikes to trail mix

Karen Howells, 52, of Long Lake, says “most people don’t even realize that it’s an electric bike until I come right up on them.” The bike can go 20 miles per hour; a charged battery powers it for 10 to 25 miles without pedaling.

As e-bikes begin to catch on, more parks must decide if they belong on the trails with classic bikes.

E-bike a new twist on cycling for Summit County

Any cyclist who's pedaled and panted his way up Swan Mountain Road or Boreas Pass knows hills can prove to be daunting obstacles. But Bill Hebb is selling a new product around town that could make those arduous climbs fly by: an electric bike.

“I fly past people in Spandex going uphill,” Hebb said with a grin on his face.

Off Beat Business: Tyler Salesman Peddles Electrifying Experience

As an avid cyclist, the 57-year-old Hebb loves to put in miles on his road bike. As a salesman of a Chinese-made electric bike, he enjoys riding around Tyler on the product as a way of exposing it to potential buyers.

An energy efficient "set of wheels"

While spending some time in China, Bill Hebb noticed most people over there weren't driving cars, but instead riding bicycles. But they weren't any regular bikes, they were electric bikes.
